Like many other parents around the world, the time has come for our big girl to start school. We are all so excited to watch her grow over the next few years. She has been most excited to learn how to read and play with her friends.
She’s a complicated little thing, very emotional, moody, serious, very clingy and I thought I was going to have some separation issues with her, especially on her first day. Yesterday was her first day and she woke up very excited about going to school, putting on her uniform, telling me exactly how she wanted to wear her hair and what she wanted in her lunch box. I was expecting her to cling to me and not want to go in.
Thankfully, she surprised us all and walked confidently into her classroom, sat at a table by herself and started an activity.
We picked her up in the afternoon and she was so happy to show us the drawings she had done and telling us about her day. She was excited to go back again today so I can breathe a sigh of relief and know that she is going to do well at school.
Oh and YES!!! She wore shoes all day. For someone that has been barefoot for almost every day of her 5 1/2 years, this is a huge effort.
Our youngest one didn’t want to miss out on all the fun and wore a school uniform too. She doesn’t start until next year but she was so keen to stay and play.
I hope all those who have little ones starting school this year had a great day too. So many new adventures for them!
