NSW Central Coast Photographer – Finding the Beauty in Ordinary

Last weekend I attended a 3 day photography workshop called The Baby Summit. I was nervous about being away from my family and being in the presence of so many photographers. What I didn’t expect was how the sessions I went to would change me personally. To hear photographers who I have followed and admired speak and tell me that I am capable of following my dream and I can succeed was so awesome. I listened to Sue Bryce talk about blocks and I swear she was talking to me directly. I have given every single one of those excuses in the past. Now that I am home, I am completely inspired and excited about photography again. I can’t wait to try new things, break some mind barriers and do what I love.

A couple of things really stood out for me and the image below is thanks to two of the speakers at the Summit. Kristen Cook said in her talk – ‘find the beauty in ordinary’. If you ever get the chance to listen to Kristen speak, you should – she has an incredible way with words and changed every single person in that room that day. The other person was Anya Ponti who encouraged everyone to try shooting wide open at f1.8. Watching Anya’s demonstration class was so inspiring for me. She has a similar style to me and she was so open and honest with any questions we had for her.

Another speaker who really gave me something on a personal level was Rachel Vanoven. Her sense of humour, her positive attitude and always smiling face made me take a long hard look at myself and realise I needed things to change and fast!

So here’s to finding a new me – confident, happy, excited, motivated, encouraging and inspired.
