Last weekend we had the most amazing 2 nights camping on the Colo River with some friends. The weather was perfect and we had a wonderful 3 days of stepping away from all technology and really being present with our kids. I must admit, I’m usually one that spends way too much time checking my phone messages, instagram or Facebook so being removed from all of those did wonders for my soul. We spent the days floating along the river on inflatable rings, exploring the river or just sitting on the sand and watching the children play. The campsite was fully booked but you wouldn’t know it with plenty of room for everyone. We rode our bikes every morning up to the road and past some lovely farms, spotting 2 lyrebirds, a few kangaroos and many horses and cows. We were even lucky enough to have a Koala in residence at the campsite sleeping up high in a tree. The kids had a ball and are already looking forward to the next camping trip – who doesn’t like toasting marshmallows on a campfire? Our girls loved the freedom of having their own tent to sleep in, getting dirty and having no plans. It really is a top holiday, even if only for a couple of nights.
