Sometime last year, I was made aware of El Hogan Photography and in particular her 10 on 10 project.
The concept is to take 10 photographs on the 10th of each month documing everyday life, nothing posed, just the day as it unfolds. It’s an alternative to a Project 365 Photo a Day challenge which can be overwhelming. It appealed to me for a number of reasons. Once a month is much less time out of my busy schedule and home life than a Photo a Day for an entire year. The 10 on 10 project would also be a challenge for me to document life unposed. I am always telling my girls how I want them to look in a photo, so for me this will be my biggest challenge – of just letting them be. This is a style of photography I’m not comfortable with at all but I love it and can’t wait to explore it more.
I have been meaning to start for a few months now but just never got around to it or forgot until the day after. But yesterday, I remembered and took my camera out and about with us for the day. We had a beautiful day with a trip to the beach in the morning then a picnic by the waterfront before the southerly change hit. I decided to try out some black and white editing too for a change from my usual style. I hope you like what you see.
